Ah, Evan Williams. Whenever I see this name on a bottle, I can’t help but think of college. If you are like me, you might want to give Mr. Evan Williams a second chance. There are a few products in this line, including Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond, that you should definitely revisit.

This bottle was first introduced in 2012 and has been a well-kept secret for many years, but that may not last too much longer. When Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond 6 year was discontinued, budget bourbon fans began looking elsewhere.

On the nose, I get the typical sweet bourbon notes, caramel, vanilla. I get a slight banana note as well. Even though we know this is at least four years old, I wouldn’t think it’s much older than that. The sweetness is definitely there but the lack of oak presence could mean that it wasn’t in the barrel much longer than four years.

Caramel! Definitely caramel. The very first thing that comes to mind is the Werther’s hard candies. Similar to when you first put one of those candies in your mouth and you get attacked by the caramel flavor, that’s the experience I get with this bourbon. This has a medium finish where the sweetness starts to turn to more of a spicy cinnamon note.

AMAZING VALUE! I was able to find a bottle for $13. For a bourbon to offer these flavors at that price-point, is amazing. This is a bottle that I keep in my bar, as it makes everyone happy. I enjoy drinking it neat, and others might enjoy making a cocktail or mixed drink with it. At $13, make all of the Bourbon and Cokes you want! Cheers!
